It's something that you definitely become aware of pretty quickly, but at this homestay, I don't think that I've ever felt so at home somewhere when the only way we could communicate was through smiles, gestures, and the occasional bit of translation.

It can be incredibly uncomfortable to sit around a table where everyone is talking and laughing, and you have no idea what everyone's saying.
